And still the wind blows…
Saturday night:
We
didn’t get off to a great start – but then again nor did anyone
else. Low tide and high winds in excess of 20 knots put a serious damper on the
day.
Sunday night:
This
was not the exclamation point we wanted to make on the season. After winning
our fist race (Flathead) and qualifying faster than the boat had ever gone (Tri
Cities) we felt confident that a Top 5 in National High points was in our
reach, but it was not to be. The Black Dart, which we had run for two seasons
in the Staudacher hull, let us down. The wrist pin in five failed and the
connecting rod broke spraying shrapnel throughout the engine. The season is
over.
Now
we know that we have the equipment and the crew – next year we’ll
show we have the driver to match!
