Tri Cities review

What a weekend!
Thursday night:
The
boat is in the pits after a relaxing day supporting the Tri Cities Water
Follies in their 2008 Hydro Golf Tournament, sponsored by FLUOR held at Canyon
Lakes Golf Course. Met some wonderful people and had a great time. My thanks to
the Water Follies organizers and a shout out to anyone attending the Columbia
Cup in the future to look into this event.
Friday night:
The
crew has the boat running great. We qualified second at 117.805, easily the
fastest we’ve ever run and over 5mph clear of the next aspirated boat in
the fleet. We are starting to make a move up the Season High Points standings.
This is one of our favorite courses and with a decent weekend we will secure a
spot at SeaFair next week.
Saturday night:
This
was a day of racing. Heat 1C put three of the four fastest aspirated boats all
in the same heat. What a draw – Paul Becker in the UL-14, Kayleigh Perkins in the UL-72 and Vince Xaudaro
in the UL-929. This set up to be fast and so it was. Paul pushed us to the hilt
– but we managed to get by going into the second turn of lap two. Celtic
Racing won the heat at 111.421 followed by Critical Logic at 109.81 and Boat
Electric at 104.969. This was a barn burner – not even the final would
ultimately match it (watch Heat 1C).
Sunday night:
Not
all good things come to those who wait. We took second in Heat 2B after a
slight mishap (the Tachometer bounced out of the dashboard and landed in my lap
leaving me with no way to judge speed, we tucked into second and came home with
300 points) and advanced to the final on points. A much needed break for the
crew, avoiding the BMain. We needed lane one in the
final so we changed our score-up strategy and with no timing marks to use…
I blew it. Ended up one second early on the score-up and incurred a one-minute
penalty, essentially taking us out. Then finishing up lap two I hooked in the
second turn and nearly rolled the boat (watch the Final).
Still we are moving up and SeaFair is next.
